Learn a New Art Form In Telluride with ‘Escape Artist’ Travel Package
In partnership with Telluride’s Ah Haa School for the Arts, the historic New Sheridan Hotel is helping visitors explore, develop and celebrate their creativity with the new “Escape Artist” package.
The Ah Haa School’s workshops, with subjects that range from photographing people and drawing landscapes to metal smithing and creating gnomes for the home, are taught by local and national instructors in a former turn-of-the-century train depot four blocks from the boutique hotel in downtown Telluride.
The New Sheridan Hotel has developed packages for a dozen workshops taking place between May and October. Customizable two-day packages that allow guests to select private instruction in photography, ceramics, drawing, painting or bookbinding are also available through March 31, 2010.
The newly renovated hotel serves as a comfortable retreat when workshops are out of session, offering 100 percent Egyptian cotton sheets, plush robes, heated bathroom floor tiles, scenic roof-top hot tubs and a host of amenities in addition to on-site dining at the Chop House restaurant and The Parlor café. The New Sheridan’s gallery of paintings by Roger Mason, a New York-based artist who spends several months a year as an artist-in-residence at the hotel, as well as the surrounding galleries and shops complement a getaway focused on the arts.
The custom, two-night “Escape Artist” package for two is $580 plus tax and workshop packages start at $555 per person. Package prices include a 25 percent discount for hotel accommodations and a 10 percent discount for art workshops.
